Ou Chrov Community Development Program

Border communities

Increasing migration is the main challenge for our communities. Many parents leave to work in Thailand or Phnom Penh. Some take their children, causing them to miss school, but many leave left their children with grandparents who cannot always afford to take good care of them.

We have delivered basic financial training to our Community Development Committee members, so that they can mobilize resources from within their community, building greater resilience and autonomy.

We also established Self-Help-Groups that offer small loans to members who want to expand their farming or trading capacity. Agriculture Cooperatives are another way to boost economic development by improving access to markets. I am happy to see the difference these activities are making. People are better able to plan and manage their economic participation.
