Good Neighbors Cambodia (GNC) is working on the project “Strengthening vocational education for Cambodian Youth through improving TVET and community awareness” that is funded by the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), LG Electronics, and the Community Chest of Korea (CCK). It has contributed to the Vocational and Technical Institutions under the Ministry of Labor and Vocational Training (MoLVT) by delivering a quality and effective vocational skill training program. We share the recent project activities as follows.

Air Conditioner Training of Trainers

On 09th – 12th, August 2022, GNC cooperated with LG Electronics Company Co., LTD to conduct “The Training of Trainers on Air Conditioner Skill for Technical Teachers from VTCs” with 15 participants (2 female) from VTCs (ITI, CTSDI and BIT) at LG Head Office. The training aims to; 1) Strengthen the capacity of the technical teachers, 2) Enable technical teachers to understand the links between Competency-based curriculum (CBC) and employers’ job requirements, and 3) Allow teachers to learn new technologies with experts.

All the participated teachers were interested in every single topic in the training. Especially, they enjoyed the field visit to the GGEAR’s site in Phnom Penh. In this practical training, they did not only learn the new technologies of the air conditioners but also learned from the reality of the GGEAR operation at the site.

Information & Communications Technology and Electrical Training of Trainers

GNC also cooperated with Start-Up Factory, the ICT and EC curriculum development consultant to conduct “The Training of Trainers on Information Technology Communication and Electrical Skills for Technical Teachers from VTCs” in Phnom Penh on 01st – 02nd and 17th – 18th of August 2022.

In these two training, 33 teachers (4 female) from VTCs (ITI, CTSDI, and BIT) participated. All the participants could get better understood the link between the competency-based curriculum with the needs of the modern labor market demand. Most of all, they learned a lot of valuable skills and specific up-to-date technologies, software, and programs with the experts. Through this, teachers are expected to be able to deliver better education to students.
